Hi y'all,
Weather affects all photoshoots. Just how bad it will or wont, is up to you and your photographer. Most people think that the only time to have a photoshoot is when its a clear, sunny day, in the middle of the day. Well I'm here to share a bit of education on that.
I luck out that I live in Northern/Central California. We pretty much have good weather all year around. Jan-March we have a bit of rain and wind...the rest pretty much sunny. With that being said, there is no reason you cannot shoot in non-sunny weather. I, and many other photographers, enjoy shooting in cloudy days. Rainy days are amazing as well. Below is a sample of a photoshoot I just did this month in Lodi, CA, where the weather just rained the day before and rained later that day. The photos are just some of the most amazing color's I have seen in a while.
This family below, as we are all driving to Knights Ferry, California, it started to DUMP down in rain. But when we got to the site to shoot, it was worth the rain to get these photos!
This last one is one of my favorates... Notice the clouds behind them. There was a massive Lighting show with rain going on about 20 minutes east of this location in Mountain House, California.
In comparison here is a shoot I did in full sun, no clouds in Lodi, California.
They are beautiful photo as well. But which would you rather you photos to look like. Last set is of just an average shoot outdoors.
I hope this give you some ideas on what to expect when shooting in different weather conditions. As of the day of this posting, it is said to rain here and I'll be out shooting a wedding in Oakland, CA. If it does, there will be another post coming up with wedding and rain images. Should be fun!
xoxo,
R
